Tappinese® Key is a revolutionary symbol language and software application designed to simplify the reading, writing, and recording of tap dance.

Tappinese®Key is a visual representation based on the actions of the foot/feet necessary to accomplish specific tap movements. The symbols representing these movements are displayed by selecting a corresponding key on the keyboard.

Users will find that reading and writing tap dance in this format will be as effortless as musicians reading a musical score. The Tappinese® score offers users the option to choose whether the dance is created using the counts as a base or the movements as a base.

For lovers of tap dance this application brings a new dimension of clarity, convenience, and enjoyment to the notation of dance.

This software facilitates the writing of tap dance by offering a variety of modes:

• Count Mode – allows rhythmic structure to serve as a base. Tappinese® allows users to set up measures in divisions of three, four, five, six, eight, twelve, and sixteen beats per measure automatically or to write their own divisions.

• Step Mode – allows the movement structure to serve as a base. Simple tap movements such as step, brush, hop, and shuffle may be typed in abbreviated English with a single key stroke. Combinations such as Buffalo, Maxie Ford, and Paradiddle may be typed using a two key stroke combination.

• Tappinese® Mode – allows the single stroke freedom in the symbolic representation of tap movements. Simple tap movements such as step, brush, hop, and shuffle may be typed with a single key stroke. Combinations such as Buffalo, Maxie Ford, and Paradiddle may be typed using a two key stroke combination.

• Foot Mode – allows the denotation of foot placement and weight shift.

• Standard Mode – allows you to add additional information necessary to guide the reader using the standard keyboard.

• Vocabulary Mode - allows you to display full tap step terms.

Note: If you do not like symbols, a complete dance can be created using only the Step mode or Vocabulary mode, and all modes can be used in any order.

This application will provide you with the capability to:

• Think and record rhythmic patterns simultaneously.

• Write tap dance at the computer as quickly as typing one symbol to represent each movement.

Tappinese® is designed to provide a fast and easy method of recording some of the most common and universal movements used to describe tap dance.
